108 is a magical number in many ancient traditions and continues to energise humanity across the universe. In spiritual practice and yoga, 108 has pivotal significance as it represents completion.
There are several reasons for why 108 is such a phenomenon.
The distance between the Sun and the Earth is 108 times the Sun’s diameter.
The distance between the Moon and the Earth is 108 times the Moon’s diameter. It is the reason why the Sun and the Moon appear to be the same size from the Earth. During a solar eclipse, the Moon completely fits the Sun as observed from the Earth.
The radius of the Moon is 108 miles.
Sanskrit alphabet has 108 characters. 54 are masculine and 54 are feminine signifying Shiva and Shakti respectively.
